WHY

The Gómez brothers decided to invest their savings in an exceptional space on a rooftop in the heart of the city, but which offered limited access from the inside of a hotel and a complex legal situation. As one of the main gastronomic capitals in the world, Madrid features intense competition and new establishments open and close every week while fashions change rapidly. We were asked, therefore, to deliver differentiation, appealing designs and comfort in order to stand out from the crowd.

HOW

Undertaking this boutique restaurant project from a global perspective was key to achieving the much-desired customer engagement through a truly original story.
The fusion cuisine combining the Latin American and Mediterranean culinary traditions created by Con Gusto was the starting point for Doña Luz. Following this creative line, and despite limited capex, all the disciplines, from brand identity and space design to implementation and local authority approvals, pursued a common goal - the creation of a unique environment.

WHAT

  • The central concept of the project revolved around enjoying one of the best known squares in Madrid while relishing excellent food and cocktails.
  • A space where the architecture blends perfectly with a urban getaway environment that brims with well-being and memorable moments.
  • Nature’s exuberance and indigenous patterns become the main ingredients of the space design capturing Doña Luz’s most exotic side. Details, urban materials and coloured lighting converge to be seen from the very centre of Madrid, its famous Km0.
  • The Sun, Moon and stars that populate the outdoor landscape integrate seamlessly with the brand and the interior architecture.
  • Despite its limited access, all areas of expertise were successfully managed to meet deadlines and costs and guarantee a summer season start.
